I’m looking for two people to join a multi-disciplinary team developing and testing sensor-driven, persuasive mobile phone interfaces for health promotion. Both positions offer interesting opportunities for research in sensor-enabled, mobile health technologies, as a part of a large multi-university and multi-disciplinary project that will conclude with a randomized clinical trial of the technology that we design and build (in several quick iterations).

The ideal candidate would have prior experience writing sophisticated, database-backed software for sensor-enabled mobile devices and enjoy fast-paced iterative design and testing of mobile prototypes in a research environment. Experience with pattern recognition, HCI design, participatory design, persuasive interfaces, and/or evaluation of health technologies is a big plus.

Job description
We are looking for passionate senior engineers with a proven track record. The engineers will an integral part of the team that is developing software and services for Windows Mobile phones.

The senior engineer will be working with a team of developers to define and create the next generation of applications and services for Windows Mobile platform. Candidate will also work with key mobile software partners to ensure that the applications achieve a desired level of performance and usability. The candidate should demonstrate flexibility, commitment, and strong communication skills.

Candidates should have strong command of frameworks and mobile technologies. Experience creating windows mobile applications is highly desired. Candidate should be self motivated with an entreprenurial mindset.

Qualifications – 7+ years of software development experience with C/C++, Java, and .Net – 2+ years of experience implementing and designing Windows Mobile applications – Familiarity of frameworks & web technologies – Familiarity with Web 2.0 concepts, experience with Web services, Object Oriented Design, SOAP, and AJAX – Good design fundamentals. – Excellent written and verbal communication skills – Background in embedded systems is desired. – The Sony Ericsson development environment is Windows-based. Familiarity with PCs, Microsoft Office and related tools is essential.

I am looking for a UI designer to help me for a month or two part time. I am putting together a specification for a mobile application for my company, and I would like to find a UI designer to
help me close the gaps on my spec.

I am hoping to find someone between jobs right now, someone with some flexible time to spend on this, but someone who does have some real experience in developing apps.

Some criteria would include: – experience in designing MIDP1/2/3 apps – experience in designing something other than games – experience and interest in both VISUAL as well as FUNCTIONAL UI design – strong understanding of hardware and network limitations – strong understanding of building portable applications (not only amongst devices, but also porting from Java to, for example, BREW or iPhone or Android or Symbian) – broad knowledge of JSRs, including PIM and MMA – knowledge of how to leverage web services in the design of the application – ability to work via email and phone, with limited amounts of face-to-face contact – ability to infuse my clunky designs with some creativity and sparkle, as well as show me where I’ve gone wrong in the design
