Job Title: Front End Mobile Application Developer

Napster is currently looking for self-motivated problem solver for a front end mobile developer role in the Los Angeles, CA area. The ideal candidate will have a strong applied and theoretical understanding of structural and object-oriented programming approaches and will have focused experience building complex JavaScript, XHTML, AJAX, XML browser resident applications over the last 5 years. Additionally, experience with mobile technologies, web-based mobile applications, and handset browser configuration and profiling are viewed as highly desirable. At the outset, this will be a new product development effort, so though there are some approaches which have been articulated, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to an early and evolving architecture.
This individual will be comfortable with all aspects of software development, produce quality work in each area and advocate quality concerns in each area. In particular, the candidate must have demonstrated ability and experience in using structured and object-oriented techniques to produce correct, extendable, reusable, and efficient solutions. Hopefully, the individual will not view design-patterns as an academic nicety and design simplicity as a purely aesthetic concern. We are looking for a merciless pursuer of quality at all turns.
If you are interested in the position you will

• Have experience building or the desire to build consumer facing products
• Have entrepreneurial passion and a drive to deepen your understanding of software development in a consumer facing context
• Be passionate about human factors and driven to architect emerging user experience paradigms in a mobile environment
• Have worked with JavaScript and one other programming language for at least 5 years
• Have demonstrated comfort with web-tier technologies and associated idioms and design patterns
• Have demonstrated experience building AJAX applications.
• Have worked with Web Services, XML/XSLT, and REST/SOAP style interfaces
• Have worked with Dojo, YUI, Prototype or another JavaScript framework
• Have demonstrated experience building XHTML, CSS enabled applications, preferable with an emphasis on WAP or XHTML-MP
• Demonstrate an understanding of idioms and design approaches relevant in a highly trafficked web environment
• Be comfortable integrating a Content Management System (Wordpress, Drupal, etc.)
• Have written use-cases or user-stories.
• Have built wireframes
• Be comfortable applying engineering best practices including source control, unit testing, and continuous integration.
• Be comfortable being part of maturing an existing technology group.
• Be comfortable functioning as a team member in a cross-functional setting
• Be comfortable working in an agile environment (SCRUM/Lean) and welcome ambiguity
• BS in computer science/mathematics or equivalent work experience.
