We are looking for a Senior Mobile Software Engineer who will play a key role in developing mobile client software including the next generation of our client application ‘Kyte Mobile’ for several platforms. Our engineers continue to create new ways for people create media, share, and connect with others. Our mobile software team is comprised of talented engineers who work on problems unique to mobile devices.
This position is full-time and you will be working out of our office overlooking Union Square in San Francisco.
Experience
Experience with multiple mobile carriers both domestic and foreign
Symbian/Series 60 C++ application development experience
Familiarity with ffmpeg and other tools for transcoding between various media formats for mobile such as h264, wmv, 3gpp
Some experience with J2EE server development
Knowledge of BREW, Windows Mobile, Palm, or embedded Linux platforms Experience with JVP, TrueBREW, UTI, Symbian Signed, other mobile app. certification programs
Requirements
5+ years experience with mobile client development on constrained resource devices such as mobile phones and PDAs in Java/C++
Strong understanding of TCP/IP-based network protocols such as HTTP
Good understanding of XML, binary, and text-based protocol design
Strong experience with J2ME including MIDP 2.0 and MMAPI
Experience with J2ME UI frameworks such as j2mepolish
Experience optimizing J2ME applications for size, performance, and cross-handset compatibility
Basic knowledge of SMS capabilities and limitations
Proven ability to deliver complex projects on time
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
Ability to work directly with QA, PM, and marketing
Skill in managing technology vendor and partner relationships
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Willingness to learn and to teach
BS, MS or PhD in computer science or equivalent.
