Punchcut’s development team is growing to support ongoing demand for ActionScript based experiences (Flash, FlashCast, Flex and Flash Lite) to create rich mobile device and television interfaces. This is a full-time, permanent position for a senior-level ActionScript developer, to start immediately.
The developer should have an exceptional grasp of the software technical architecture process and object-oriented programming with ActionScript, ActionScript 2.0 is required (AS 2.0 and 3.0 for Flash Lite are plusses). The candidate should be very comfortable providing strong leadership to a development team and coordinating project tasks to best facilitate the needs of the client and project. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience developing web and mobile or device interface products and/or services and thrives in a fast-paced, creative, agency environment.
// Responsibilities
• Design and document the technical architecture for software projects
• Provide strong team leadership and lead by example
• Stay current with and help to standardize development best practices
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams to represent development perspectives during the design process
• Meet with clients to understand client technical requirements, present Punchcut’s development perspectives and propose development solutions and approaches
• Understand web and mobile user interface standards
• Develop web-based Flash and Flex interfaces and applications
• Develop mobile and device related Flash Lite interfaces
• Support collaborative teams by creating Flash and Flash Lite prototypes of interaction models
• Write development specifications and guidelines for client delivery
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate the technical feasibility of proposed solutions
// Desired Qualifications
• 5+ years developing interfaces for web and/or mobile sites or applications
• Ability to create new or extend existing technical architectures and provide documentation to developers in UML format
• Principled adherence to object oriented development best practices and versioning
• Undergraduate degree in relevant field and/or equivalent work experience
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and development rationale to non-developers and clients
• Willingness to learn new languages and platforms (Flex, FlashCast, XHTML, uiOne, etc.)
• Focused attention to detail
• Sense of humor and positive, flexible attitude
• Ability to multi-task and work on or oversee multiple mid-to-large sized projects in parallel
• Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
• Design firm or agency experience a strong plus
• Ideal, but not required, experience with mobile platforms and technologies J2ME, WAP/WML, SMS/MMS, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Android)
• Ideal, but not required, familiarity with software and device quality assurance processes.
