Overview:
In this role you will oversee all technical aspects of new mobile game development. You will work closely with Engineers, Producers and Development Directors to help scope, design, deliver and deploy mobile video games for Smartphone and handheld devices worldwide.
Responsibilities:
Act as the senior technical representative on product teams, providing subject matter expertise and guidance.
Ensure the technical quality of mobile games from concept to worldwide internationalization and deployment.
Author, revise and sign off on Game Design and Technical Design Documents.
Provide technical direction on game play and implementation, e.g. performance, code architecture, hardware utilization, optimization, etc.
Drive strategic code-sharing and architecture for game projects, ensuring extensible design.
Support the integration of external developer studios with EA build systems, tools, services and best practices.
Work with and mentor lead engineers to ensure milestone tasks are completed on schedule.
Maintain a positive balance between driving technology quality and supporting the project schedule.
Track and report out on changes to project schedule, target platforms and features.
Perform due diligence on potential development and technology partners, evaluating tools, techniques, personnel and processes.
Collaborate with local and global peers to define and drive EAMobile technology best practices.
Provide guidance to the organization based on business specific knowledge of technologies, processes and objectives.
Requirements:
Passion for making and playing video games.
BS or BA degree in computer science or related field. Masters Degree a plus.
6+ years of professional, full life-cycle game development
4+ years of embedded programming with three or more of the following platforms; iPhone/iPod, WindowsCE, BREW, PSP, DSi, J2ME or Symbian. Console development a plus.
Extensive experience programming in C and C++. Objective-C is a plus. OpenGL ES a BIG plus.
Deep understanding of manual and automated mobile porting processes.
Experience debugging game development tool chains from authoring through to SKU. Familiarity with various forms of testing practices, including regression, acceptance, functional, and load testing Outstanding design and implementation skills on resource-constrained devices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when explaining technology issues to non-technical personnel.
