Architect
at Microsoft in Redmond, WA
We are looking for a highly talented software architect to tackle important challenges at the forefront of mobile computing. We are an incubation team that is constructing game-changing system software for the device, multi-core, and distributed services world. A candidate must relish the excitement and uncertainty that goes with creating the future of mobile computing. Startup experience is a plus.
The candidate must have a strong history of successful software design and implementation in the mobile device space. This includes a demonstrated ability to ship products and to provide technical leadership to a substantial development effort. The candidate must have experience with a sizeable “systems” level codebase, such as a handset software stack, operating system, or DBMS execution engine.
In addition to typical design activities, the candidate will also spend a significant percentage of their time writing code.
A BS in computer science or a related field is required. An advanced degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.
Additional desirable, but not mandatory, skills include: knowledge of security models and constructing secure systems; experience building distributed systems or scalable backend services; familiarity with C# and managed code; compiler internals; knowledge of machine virtualization; creating embedded device systems; and a willingness to perform some technical management (dev lead) and program management.
