Mobile Web/iPhone Application Software Engineer

• Position is for Software Engineer to work on the MapQuest Consumer Mobile team. Team is responsible for consumer facing Mobile applications MQ4M (iPhone, Blackberrry), Mobile Web Portal, and MapQuest Navigator.
• Thorough experience and understanding of Web Application implementation, technologies and concepts.
• Java, J2EE experience
• Frameworks (Struts, Spring)
• JSP, Servlets, Beans
• JUnit
• WAL-NG, WURFL
• Position requires advanced knowledge of HTML/XHTML, JavaScript, DOM, DHTML, XML, and CSS
• Competency with XMLHttpRequest (AJAX)
• Adherence and understanding of web standards and semantic mark-up
• Thorough understanding of browser bugs and incompatibilities including those in Mac IE5, Opera 7+, and Windows IE 5+
• Experience converting graphical mocks into functional mark-up
• Experience developing intuitive user interfaces
• XML processing and binding
• Knowledge of Tomcat server and Apache web server desired;
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is desired.
• Experience in rapid prototyping and Agile development (XP, Scrum).
• Extensive experience with online Ad display and Sponsored Links usage, integration, tracking and reporting.
• Working knowledge Linux command line a plus
• Experience with version control systems (CVS, Subversion)

iPhone experience:
• Strong object oriented programming and design skills
• 3 years development in Objective-C and Cocoa, C++
• Extensive experience with Xcode, Interface Builder
• Experience with Instruments
• Experience with other Mobile platforms desired
• Development with iPhone SDK
• Previous use of TDD and track record or success using this methodology
• Understanding of various Web Technologies and Web Services (REST, XML, HTTP)
• UX aptitude with a development focus

Technical Excellence
• Uses knowledge associated with undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field
• Possesses approximately 4-6 years directly related experience
• Understands and can adapt to AOL technical tools, applications, and procedures
• Understand relationships among and across software/hardware components and interfaces.
• May be required to program in multiple platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux)
• Conveys fundamental aspects of job through verbal and written communications
• Designs, develops, troubleshoots, debugs and implements software for a component of the system
